Garage door repair or replace? The honest Norwich checklist
Most faults on a garage door in Norwich are worth repairing — £80 to £250 covers the lot. Replacing makes sense when the door itself is finished: rot, rust, warping, or a repair bill climbing past a third of a new door. Here is the checklist we apply.

Repair when…
The door is structurally sound and the fault is mechanical: snapped springs or cables (£90 to £180, always in pairs), worn rollers, a door off its tracks, a failed operator, or a lock that will not turn. These are routine, same-week jobs.
Replace when…
The panel is rotting (timber), rusting through (steel) or cracked (GRP); a warped timber door binds in the frame whatever is repaired; an old single-skin door on an integral garage is costing you heat every month; or the door predates modern safety standards and is heavy to lift.
The grey zone
If the repair quote is more than about a third of a like-for-like replacement, price both. On older doors, one repair often uncovers another — a new spring on a door with rotten frame hardware is money half-spent.
